I’m sure you know this, but it’s the start of August, and lockdown is still underway for most of us.
The new normal feels strange. That is if you’re still stuck at home in quarantine with no end in sight. It feels as though the beginning of the year was another lifetime ago and that your immediate surroundings are the only place you have ever known. On the other hand, this could be the first time you’ve ever slowed down and finally had the chance to look around at your surroundings.
Like it or not, the world has come to a halt, and after everything that has gone on in the last several months, I can’t believe I’m going to stop and talk to you guys about plants.
Creating a pleasant environment to live in a while in a not so friendly world can help with unease and anxiety as the months continue. Gardening has helped me so, I hope that others get something out of it too.
Hear me out. Maybe, you should pick up a pen and leave your laptop on the charger for a day. It’s time to imagine you are some fancy writer from the 1800s with an endless amount of free time and a storybook life. I know, it’s simple to just pick up a pen that the majority of us don’t even think about it. Writing by hand is a habit that’s worth picking up again.
Okay, this journey as a creator sucks. I’m sure you know this if you’re a writer or any type of artist. We all need that little sliver of dopamine from a job well done. Just that little edge of feel-good juice from someone acknowledging that our work is good. Most of the time, as an artist or writer, you just don’t get that.
One of the hardest challenges about writing fiction and starting a new novel is finding out who your main character is. Well, at least it is for me. If you watch a show or read a book, the character’s personality and the way you relate to them is what brings you back for more. So, how do you do that for your readers?
